lyrics
It was never meant to be this way
I had hopes and things to say
Now I seem to spend my days
Ingesting things to ease my pains
Like amphetamines to dull these aches
Cause by years I lost in spades
I want to sleep but I won’t sleep
I want to sleep for days & days
These chemicals are now my friends
They comfort me when others can’t
Won’t lecture me about my state
Or lack of will to make me change
You can intervene all you like
But I won’t stop it’s mine to decide
I want to sleep but I won’t sleep
I want to sleep for days and days
I won’t sleep for days and days
Days and days and days
I enjoyed Deerhoof's music for many years before this came out, but this album turned me into a Deerhoof superfan. This is an absolutely incredible set of songs from beginning to end. The individual tracks are great, but they all add up to make a powerful overall statement. Listening to this album is such a cathartic experience every time. jgregorsok
Sure, it's easy to say they sound like Steve Albini with some delay, but that really misses the bigger picture: Albini never used delay. They guys are doing some things that Steve never thought to and that's worth a listen. Gbro
Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness. The Avenell-esque vocals top it off perfectly.
Brilliant - punishing, but brilliant. jim_fuego
Max Goldstein makes "acoustic" music that is a unique mix of guitar, experimental electronics, and percussion. Make indie rock weird again. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 25, 2021
