lyrics
I wanted out but I didn’t want the enemies
That I would acquire since I fled & left the scene
With a break clean & strong like my integrity
Without the scrapes nor the scratches nor the blemishings
One would see visible from the periphery
So I can hide what I meant from what I truly mean
Until the day bring out the blades & cut the strings
Cut the strings
Sharpen my knives to the sharpest of knives, knives
Then to bring the blades and let the strings fall where they may
Now I’m free I capable of anything
Blades in hand ready for their sharpening
Sharpen my knives to the sharpest of knives, knives
Then to bring the blades and let the strings fall where they may
I enjoyed Deerhoof's music for many years before this came out, but this album turned me into a Deerhoof superfan. This is an absolutely incredible set of songs from beginning to end. The individual tracks are great, but they all add up to make a powerful overall statement. Listening to this album is such a cathartic experience every time. jgregorsok
Sure, it's easy to say they sound like Steve Albini with some delay, but that really misses the bigger picture: Albini never used delay. They guys are doing some things that Steve never thought to and that's worth a listen. Gbro
Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness. The Avenell-esque vocals top it off perfectly.
Brilliant - punishing, but brilliant. jim_fuego
Max Goldstein makes "acoustic" music that is a unique mix of guitar, experimental electronics, and percussion. Make indie rock weird again. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 25, 2021
